The ETC Adopt An Entrepreneur Scheme
The Concept :
The “Adopt an Entrepreneur Programme” is a new programme designed to provide support, training and mentorship for community based tourism projects in the Northern KwaZulu Natal region. These projects and managed in conjunction with, uThungulu District Municipality, Zululand District Municipality, Enterprise Ilembe, The Zululand Birding Route and The Zululand Culture and Heritage Route (Route 66)
The Zululand Birding Route has been established for over 12 years and currently supports over 25 small community owned tourism businesses. The Zululand Cultural and Heritage Route was established in 2009 and has significant scope to also provide a valuable platform for emerging community based tourism entrepreneurs to succeed and become sustainable, providing that they have adequate support and mentorship. Both the Zululand Birding Route and the Zululand Culture and Heritage routes are established as self-standing non-profit legal entities with the vision of developing and promoting community based tourism in Northern KwaZulu-Natal.
